Ytterbia, Yb₂O₃

Ytterbia, Yb₂O₃, is a colourless oxide the magnetic susceptibility of which is 33.6×10^-6 c.g.s. units per unit mass. Its salts with colourless acids exhibit no selective absorption. The sulphate forms an octahydrate, Yb₂(SO₄)₃.8H₂O.
